Watching a puppy discover water for the first time can be one of those moments you remember for years. Some puppies walk straight in as though they have been swimming their entire lives. Others stare at the water, touch it with one paw, and immediately decide they need considerably more information before proceeding. At Animal…
Leaving your dog in someone else’s care involves a great deal of trust. You are trusting a boarding facility with an animal who has routines, preferences, medical needs, habits, and a personality that may not always fit neatly into a form. From our perspective, a dog boarding agreement is one of the tools that helps…
When dog owners hear the words “cage-free dog boarding,” they often picture a room full of dogs freely playing together from morning until night. That image captures part of the idea, but good cage-free boarding involves much more thought and structure than simply removing cages. The real goal is to give dogs a boarding experience…
When people think about keeping a dog healthy and happy, physical exercise usually comes to mind first. Walks, running, swimming, and play certainly matter, but we have learned through years of caring for dogs that physical activity is only part of the picture. Leaving your dog at a boarding facility for the first time can feel like a much bigger event than the calendar suggests. To your dog, it is not simply a change of address for a few days. Their familiar smells, household sounds, sleeping spots, walking routes, and daily interactions suddenly change. Even confident dogs can…
Ask ten dog owners how much exercise a dog needs, and you may hear ten different answers. Thirty minutes. Two walks. An hour at the park. Enough to make them tired. None of those answers is necessarily wrong, but none is especially useful without knowing the dog. At Animal Friends’ Pampered Paws, we have spent…
When a dog needs more activity, companionship, or a break in the middle of a long day at home, owners usually consider two options: dog daycare or hiring a dog walker. Both can be excellent choices. They simply solve different problems. After more than 20 years of caring for dogs, we have learned that the…
Dog daycare can be an excellent part of a healthy weekly routine, but there is no ideal attendance schedule that works for every dog. Some dogs thrive with several daycare days each week. Others get everything they need from one or two visits, especially when their lives already include walks, training, outdoor adventures, and plenty…
